If You're Eating Rice Daily, You Need to Add These to Make it Healthy! A Must-Try!

Rice is a staple food that feeds more than half of the world’s population. Over the years, there have been various methods on how to make better and healthier rice. So whether you prefer brown or white rice, there are some solutions that can help you enjoy the grains without the guilt.

Add Coconut Oil to White Rice

White rice is abundant in digestible starch, which becomes sugars that should be used for energy; otherwise, they will become fat. According to a recent study conducted by researchers in Sri Lanka, there is a way to increase the resistant starch content in rice, which does not need to be converted to simple sugars. This method also decreases the calories in white rice. To achieve both, you only have to add two teaspoons of coconut oil and one ¾ cups of water to a cup of white rice.

Use Chicken Broth for White Rice

Steam rice in chicken broth – use low sodium broth. Adding this to your typical white rice will not only boos the taste, but also increase the health properties it contains. It is recommended that you use organic broth as much as possible. Simply add 1/8 teaspoon of saffron to the rice you have cooked in the broth. You can also use vegetable broth, which does not contain fat.

Add Spices to White Rice

This is an alternative option to the one above where you steam white rice in broth. Instead of broth, you can simply use water that has grated ginger in it. This will not only add flavor, but also provide you with tons of benefits. It is quite well-known that ginger has several health benefits, including lowering blood pressure and cholesterol, while reducing the risk of heart attack. If you don’t like grated ginger, you can use teriyaki sauce or soy sauce. Add some acid to the rice with lemon juice and zest.

Add Antioxidant-Rich Ingredients

When cooking white rice, sauté fresh mushrooms in olive oil. Mushrooms have high amounts of antioxidants that help the body become healthier by preventing oxidative stress. You can also put some garlic and onions in your white rice – both of which are rich in antioxidants. Sauté them first before you add them to the rice.

Whichever method you choose for your rice, these cooking tricks for white rice can indeed make the grain healthier – even though it is believed that brown rice is the healthier rice variety.
